Iloilo: The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) has completed the implementation of 21 projects amounting to over PHP47.11 million in Western Visayas this year.
According to Philippines News Agency, these projects were executed under two modalities: the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay Community-Driven Development (KKB-CDD) with 19 projects costing over PHP43.18 million and the Pag-abot Program with two projects worth PHP3.93 million. Silverio Von Maguad III, KALAHI deputy regional program manager, explained that the Pag-abot initiative aims to assist vulnerable individuals and families in street situations who wish to return to their provinces.
The projects include a PHP1.96 million water refilling station in Iloilo City and the provision of 22 fiberglass reinforced plastic boats and fishing equipment valued at PHP1.97 million to Barangay Granada in Carles, Iloilo province.
The 19 KKB-CDD initiatives were implemented across various regions, including Bingawan in Iloilo, which saw five roads and one slope protection project totaling PHP9.197 million. Sibunag in Guimaras benefited from three road projects costing PHP13.58 million. New Washington in Aklan received six projects, comprising two daycare centers, two roads, and two school buildings, with a total investment of PHP10.47 million.
The Municipality of Madalag in Aklan implemented four projects, including flood control, a footpath, and two roads, amounting to PHP9.9 million. Maguad emphasized that the KKB-CDD program empowers local communities through participatory planning and implementation of small-scale development projects. He noted that all programs were completed as planned, meeting the target completion date of Oct. 30.
