Seoul: South Korea's flag carrier Korean Air announced its partnership with US defense technology firm Anduril Industries for the co-development of autonomous aircraft for Korea and the Asia-Pacific region. The two have agreed to co-develop unmanned aircraft systems based on Anduril products. They will also team up to license-produce Anduril products and any localized variations in Korea for export across the Asia Pacific. Additionally, they will explore establishing manufacturing and production capabilities in South Korea.
According to Philippines News Agency, Jin Kyu Lim, senior vice president and head of Korean Air's Aerospace Business, stated that the partnership combines Korean Air's expertise in unmanned aircraft systems with Anduril's AI technology. He noted that this collaboration would enhance the carrier's capabilities and represent a milestone in the global unmanned systems market. Korean Air is expected to advance its systems through this partnership as a developer of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Korean Air will hold rights to license-produce portions of Anduril's defense systems for regional exports. Anduril specializes in AI-driven autonomous systems and is known for its Lattice software, a platform that integrates unmanned systems, command-and-control networks, and real-time data analysis. The partnership was announced during Anduril's Korea office launch in Seoul.
