Laguna Town Suspends Classes and Government Work Due to Bomb Threat

Sta. Cruz: Residents of Laguna's capital municipality of Sta. Cruz woke up to a bomb threat spread through social media. Mayor Egay San Luis announced the suspension of classes and government work, citing safety concerns amid the bomb threat.

According to Philippines News Agency, a message circulated on social media regarding an alleged bomb threat in the town, prompting Mayor San Luis to take precautionary measures. He announced on his Facebook page, "Ngayong araw, kumakalat ang isang mensahe sa social media ukol sa umano'y bomb threat sa ating bayan. Bilang tugon at pag-iingat, suspendido po ang pasok sa lahat ng antas ng pampubliko at pribadong paaralan, gayundin ang operasyon ng ating lokal na pamahalaan ay pansamantalang ihihinto habang sinisiyasat ito ng ating mga awtoridad (Today, a message is circulating on social media regarding an alleged bomb threat in our town. In response and as a precaution, classes at all levels of public and private schools are suspended, as well as the operation of our local government will be temporarily halted while our authorities investigate this)."

The local police and K9 units were deployed to search the premises of the Sta. Cruz Municipal Hall for any suspicious belongings or activities. San Luis stated, "Patuloy na isinasagawang imbestigasyon ng ating kapulisan kaugnay sa kumakalat na bomb threat sa ating bayan ng Santa Cruz, Laguna. Kasama sa operasyon ang ating PNP (Philippine National Police) at ang K9 EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) group upang magsagawa ng masusing pag-inspeksyon sa mga lugar na kailangang tiyakin ang seguridad (Our police force is continuing its investigation into the bomb threat that has been circulating in our town of Santa Cruz, Laguna. Our PNP and the K9 EOD group are participating in the operation to conduct a thorough inspection of areas that need to be secured)."

In his statement, Mayor San Luis urged residents not to spread false information and to rely on his official Facebook page for the latest updates regarding the situation.
