Quezon city: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has called upon representatives of public utility vehicle (PUV) terminals located in two Quezon City malls, Ayala Malls Cloverleaf and Trinoma, due to deficiencies in passenger facilities.

According to Philippines News Agency, LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II announced that show cause orders (SCO) were issued to the operators and managers of these terminals for failing to meet safety and comfort standards.

Mendoza emphasized the importance of compliance, stating that operators must address these issues or face potential repercussions for neglecting passenger service. The LTFRB's inspections are part of an ongoing nationwide initiative, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to enhance the country's transportation sector.

The SCOs revealed that the Ayala Mall Cloverleaf terminal lacks adequate roofing, seating, trip guidelines, and passenger assistance counters. Additionally, the terminal must obtain an operational permit from the local government and develop a security plan. Meanwhile, the Trinoma Mall terminal was found to be missing essential passenger facilities, such as information counters, adequate seating, and priority lanes for the elderly and disabled.

Representatives from both terminals are required to attend an LTFRB hearing on March 18. In conjunction with these actions, the LTFRB will conduct a public consultation meeting to discuss terminal requirements, accreditations, and best practices to improve transport terminal facilities nationwide.
