LTO Encourages Drivers to Renew Licenses Online via eGovPH App

Manila: Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II, has initiated an information campaign to promote the online driver's license renewal system (ODLRS). He encouraged drivers to renew their licenses through the eGovPH mobile application.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mendoza instructed all LTO regional directors to enhance traditional and social media campaigns to support the ODLRS, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive for a digital transformation in government transactions. Mendoza highlighted that the digital platform enables citizens, particularly busy workers, to save time, energy, and money by eliminating the need to visit LTO offices for this transaction.

Mendoza announced that the ODLRS is operational nationwide and in select countries. He emphasized that the technology reduces human intervention, serving as an anti-fixer and anti-corruption measure. The ODLRS has been launched in Taiwan and Osaka, Japan, through license renewal caravans, with plans for further launches in the Middle East, Europe, and North America to serve overseas Filipinos.

He noted that the LTO is committed to providing fast and comfortable services, from driver's license renewals to vehicle registrations. Additionally, the LTO aims to enhance the integrated telemedicine feature of the ODLRS, allowing users to book telemedicine appointments online.

LTO Executive Director Greg Pua Jr. recently led a meeting of the Committee on the Accreditation of IT Service Providers to improve the implementation of digital medical evaluations, a requirement for license renewal.
