Tokyo: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order against a father in Echague, Isabela, following the circulation of a video that shows a minor driving a vehicle. The video, which captured widespread attention, depicts the child's father seated in the back as the young driver operates the vehicle, posing a risk to other road users.
According to Philippines News Agency, the LTO is holding the father accountable for potential violations, including Reckless Driving and Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle. LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao instructed OIC Regional Director Geronimo Santos of the LTO Regional Office in Cagayan Valley to suspend the father's driver's license for 90 days in response to the incident.
The show cause order mandates that the father submit a written explanation within three days, detailing why his license should not be suspended or canceled. A lack of response will be interpreted as a waiver of his right to a hearing. Lacanilao emphasized that the minor's driving poses significant risks to both the child and other motorists on the road.
