LTO Suspends License of Vlogger Cherry White Over Unsafe Driving

Quezon city: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the driver's license of vlogger Cherry White for 90 days following the release of a viral video displaying unsafe driving behavior.

According to Philippines News Agency, LTO Acting Assistant Secretary Atty. Greg Pua Jr. stated that the driving shown in the video could potentially lead to road accidents, posing a risk to both the driver and other road users. Pua highlighted the influence White has on social media, expressing concern that her actions could be misinterpreted as acceptable driving behavior.

The suspension aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to address erring motorists to ensure road safety. Pua mentioned that an investigation is underway, beginning with the issuance of a show cause order (SCO) against White.

The video, posted by White on social media, depicts her in a lounging posture with one leg raised on the driver's seat, seemingly disengaged from proper driving practices. The SCO requires White to explain why she should not be deemed an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle under Sec. 27 (a) of R.A. 4136, in relation to reckless driving.

White has also been instructed to appear before the LTO Central Office in Quezon City and surrender her driver's license by the scheduled hearing date to initiate the suspension period. Additionally, the vehicle involved in the video has been placed on alert while the case remains under investigation.
