Dasol: A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck the town of Dasol in Pangasinan at 1:23 p.m. on Friday, followed by a series of smaller tremors in the succeeding hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. The quake's epicenter was located 4 km west of Dasol town at a depth of 10 km.
According to Philippines News Agency, the initial quake was felt at Intensity IV in Alaminos City and Intensity III in Dagupan City. Instrumental intensities were recorded at Intensity IV in Bani, Intensity II in Dagupan City and Lingayen, and Intensity I in Bolinao, Pangasinan, and Iba, Zambales.
At 2:14 p.m., a magnitude 3.1 quake struck again in Dasol at a depth of 11 km, followed by another magnitude 2.9 tremor at 2:18 p.m. Earlier, at 1:38 p.m., a magnitude 1.7 quake with a depth of 41 km also shook Mabini, a nearby town. Phivolcs said aftershocks are not expected.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, in a statement, said power transmission services remain stable despite the earthquakes that occurred in Dasol, Pangasinan. "The Luzon grid remains intact as there are no reports of power interruption and damaged transmission facilities in Pangasinan and nearby areas where the earthquake was felt," it added.
