Manila: The city government of Manila has undertaken the rescue and relocation of over 800 families, totaling nearly 3,000 individuals, who have been affected by adverse weather conditions attributed to the southwest monsoon, locally known as 'habagat'.
According to Philippines News Agency, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno shared via social media that data from the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) indicates a total of 842 families or 2,889 individuals have been moved to 22 evacuation centers across the city as of 10 a.m. The largest concentration of evacuees is located at the Atienza Elementary School in Baseco Compound, Tondo, which is currently sheltering 148 families or 641 individuals.
In District 1, evacuees have been relocated to the Delpan Sports Complex (9 families, 44 individuals); Vitas Building 18 covered court (29 families, 86 individuals); and Barangay 105 covered court (12 families, 57 individuals). District 2 has provided refuge at Brgy. 199 multi-purpose hall (12 families, 57 individuals); Melchora Aquino Elementary School (14 families, 54 individuals); Gen. Gregorio del Pilar Elementary School (4 families, 15 individuals); and Brgy. 204 - Barangay Hall (6 families, 15 individuals).
In District 3, Regidor Elementary School is hosting 168 families or 609 individuals, while other sites such as Brgy. 326 - Barangay Hall (8 families, 23 individuals), Brgy. 296 - Barangay Hall (65 families, 169 individuals), Solex 1 (83 families, 249 individuals), T. Alonzo High School (20 families, 46 individuals), and Brgy. 332 - Brgy. Hall (6 families, 15 individuals) are likewise accommodating displaced residents.
Districts 4 and 5's evacuees have been distributed among the Barangay 456 Daycare Center (8 families, 29 individuals), Trinidad Tecson Elementary School (8 families, 29 individuals), District Welfare Office 5 (20 families, 56 individuals), and Barangay 661 Daycare Center (14 families, 41 individuals).
Finally, in District 6, relocation sites include Brgy. 598 - Likha Multipurpose Center/Damka (23 families, 80 individuals), Don Bosco High School - V. Mapa (68 families, 205 individuals), Brgy. 602 - Barangay Hall, 2nd floor (25 families, 35 individuals), and Barangay 607 - Barangay Hall, 3rd floor (10 families, 36 individuals).
