Marcos Approves Laws to Establish and Upgrade Hospitals Across the Philippines.

MANILA: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has enacted four legislative measures aimed at the creation and enhancement of hospital facilities in different regions of the Philippines. Copies of these newly signed laws were made available through the Official Gazette and disseminated via social media platforms on Wednesday. According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos signed Republic Act (RA) 12068 on November 8, which is designed to upgrade the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center in Balanga City, Bataan. This upgrade will transform the facility into a multi-specialty hospital and will increase its capacity from 500 to 1,000 beds. Additionally, RA 12069 was signed to improve the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital in Jordan, Guimaras. This legislation will elevate the hospital to a Level II facility and expand its capacity from 25 to 500 beds, as well as rename it to Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Medical Center. Furthermore, the President approved RA 12070 and RA 12071, which establish the Victorias City General Hospital in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, and the Laguna Regional Hospital in Bay, Laguna, respectively. These new laws require the Secretary of Health to ensure that the necessary funding for these upgrades and new establishments is included in the Department of Health's program. In related developments, President Marcos also signed RA 12072, which involves the separation of the Bacungan National High School - Mangop Extension from the Bacungan National High School in Barangay Mangop, Leon B. Postigo town, Zamboanga del Norte. This separation will convert the extension into an independent institution, now to be known as Mangop National High School.
