Manila: Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III on Friday commended personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office (RMFB-NCRPO) who have exemplified their commitment to public welfare through timely intervention in two separate incidents on Tuesday. Torre said the police response to the incidents - assisting stranded commuters and extending emergency aid to a distressed motorist - supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his Bagong Pilipinas campaign anchored on responsive and compassionate public service.
According to Philippines News Agency, an RMFB-NCRPO team en route to Camp Bagong Diwa saw several passengers stranded on the roadside after their vehicle broke down due to overheating. Without delay, the officers secured the stalled vehicle to the side of the road to prevent traffic congestion and coordinated with the Skyway Patrol Group for recovery assistance. The RMFB-NCRPO personnel also transported the stranded passengers using their police mobile unit to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in time for their scheduled flight.
"This is the brand of policing we are advocating - swift, selfless, and service-oriented. Our police officers must always be ready to act with heart, whether in times of danger or in moments of everyday need," Torre said.
In a separate incident, during a foot patrol along Do±a Soledad Avenue in Barangay Don Bosco, Para±aque City, police officers PEMS Joselyn Bangayan, Pat. Ricardeo Felipe, and Pat. Milliana Paguirigan responded quickly to a motorist experiencing dizziness, tremors, and stiffness in his hands and fingers while riding his motorcycle. The officers immediately administered first aid and coordinated with local barangay officials. Their quick action ensured the arrival of an ambulance, which brought the victim to the Ospital ng Para±aque 2 for medical attention.
"These incidents are concrete examples of our five-minute response strategy in action. They highlight how every police officer must be ready, reliable, and responsive in delivering real service to the people," Torre said. "These commendable acts reinforce the Philippine National Police's ongoing commitment to uphold its core values and directly respond to the everyday needs of the public, in line with national efforts to build a safer, more compassionate society."
