Misamis oriental: Two component cities of Misamis Oriental province have entered into sisterhood agreements with the local government of San Juan City in Metro Manila. The agreements, signed on Wednesday, aim to enhance industrial and economic collaboration between the cities involved.

According to Philippines News Agency, the agreements were signed by San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora during visits to El Salvador City and Gingoog City. Mayor Zamora met with El Salvador City Mayor Edgar Lignes and Gingoog City Mayor Erick Ca±osa to formalize the partnerships. As the president of the League of Cities of the Philippines, Zamora expressed enthusiasm for sharing best practices that could enhance labor and industrial sectors, ultimately leading to economic benefits.

Mayor Lignes emphasized the opportunity the agreement presents for showcasing local products and practices to the wider National Capital Region, facilitated by the connection with San Juan City. Meanwhile, Mayor Ca±osa highlighted the potential for sustainable development through strategic exchanges in human resources and agricultural economic initiatives.

In parallel developments, Misamis Oriental Governor Juliette Uy has been engaging with Japanese firms TJ Group Holdings and Cocowell Corp. to explore the construction of a facility aimed at converting green coconut waste into renewable energy. Additionally, a trade proposal from Asian Pyrochem Technologies, Inc. was put forward by Chairman and CEO Harley Luis Lea±o. The proposal involves a barter agreement that could benefit Misamis Oriental with a trade of USD50 million in abaca fiber and USD300 million in iron ore, both abundant in the province.
