Manila: Senator Panfilo Lacson said Wednesday a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigation would expose the evidence behind five case studies on alleged anomalous infrastructure projects in Taguig City that his team had submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman.

According to Philippines News Agency, Lacson stated that the public would witness the details during the committee hearings following former Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano's dismissal of his allegations as 'malicious.' Lacson invited the public to watch the Blue Ribbon Committee (BRC) hearings, where the truth behind the five Taguig case studies submitted to the Ombudsman would be disclosed.

Lacson handed over the evidence on Tuesday, suggesting it could support potential cases of plunder, malversation, and violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, pending the Ombudsman's evaluation. He claimed the projects involved ghost projects, double appropriations, recycled photographs from completed contracts, and an illegal reclamation project misrepresented as slope-protection structures.

He noted that Taguig City received PHP14.4 billion worth of infrastructure projects from 2020 to 2025, with the amount 'still counting.' Lacson emphasized that submitting the records to the Ombudsman would not hinder the Senate panel from conducting its own inquiry.

Senator Erwin Tulfo, Blue Ribbon chairperson, mentioned that the committee is open to examining the documents and hearing testimony once its membership is formally constituted on the Senate floor. Tulfo revealed that a former Taguig mayor and other possible witnesses were reportedly willing to provide records to the committee.

Tulfo also stated he would coordinate with Lacson on whether a formal resolution or request for investigation would be made. He added that some unnamed individuals had reportedly asked the Senate majority not to proceed with the inquiry but declined to identify them.
