Cagayan de oro: Misamis Oriental Governor Juliette Uy met with officials from the Department of Agriculture in Northern Mindanao Region (DA-10) and representatives from the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines to discuss potential agricultural development projects for the province.
According to Philippines News Agency, Provincial Agriculture Office head Dr. Benjamin Resma shared insights from the meeting, which centered on forming partnerships with the South Korean government. These collaborations aim to enhance farmers' skills and address their needs, focusing on projects such as building more processing centers, cold chain facilities, grain centers, and smart greenhouses.
This initiative aligns with the Misamis Oriental provincial government's strategy to update its agriculture plan. The goal is to achieve better results while preserving existing best practices, such as supporting farmers through initiatives like the weekly farmers' market.
"We will continue to cater to these farmers to sell their produce at the grounds of the provincial capitol in this city, as long as they reside in Misamis Oriental," Resma stated. He also noted that a group of farmers is eager to engage in dialogue with Governor Uy to discuss their interest in advancing the agriculture sector and improving productivity.
