Quezon city: The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) presided over the first Inter-Agency Coordinating Conference to outline security preparations for the upcoming fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., scheduled for July 28. The meeting took place at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) headquarters' Hinirang Social Hall at Camp Karingal.
According to Philippines News Agency, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin spearheaded the conference, which occurred Thursday afternoon. Discussions centered around a comprehensive threat assessment, security and safety measures, deployment strategies, and traffic management to ensure a safe, orderly, and peaceful SONA.
QCPD Acting Director Col. Randy Glen Silvio emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order amid expected protests and gatherings related to SONA 2025. He stated that while the right to expression is respected, it must be conducted safely and lawfully.
The meeting saw participation from various key agencies, including other NCRPO district directors and their staff, chiefs of Regional Support Units, Presidential Security Group, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Joint Task Force - National Capital Region, and Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The NCRPO is comprised of five districts: the Manila Police District, Quezon City Police District, Northern Police District, Eastern Police District, and Southern Police District. Earlier, PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III assured the public of a peaceful SONA, highlighting ongoing preparations with both caution and optimism.
