Manila: The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) led the ceremonial signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the 2025 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF)-Green Green Green Program. This initiative is part of the Marcos administration's commitment to building greener, more resilient, and sustainable communities.
According to Philippines News Agency, the MOU was signed in a ceremony at the DBM Boncodin Hall in San Miguel, Manila. The event saw the participation of DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Human Settlements Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairperson Romando Artes as signatories.
The Green Green Green Program under the LGSF is designed to support beneficiary provinces, cities, and municipalities in enhancing green open spaces and infrastructure projects for active mobility. The program aims to foster the creation of greener, more vibrant, and well-connected public open spaces, promoting an active lifestyle and enhancing community wellness.
In May, the DBM issued a budget circular providing guidelines for the release and utilization of the PHP700 million allocated for the LGSF-Green Green Green program for the current year. This fund is designated for the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrade of projects such as green open spaces, including public parks and plazas, recreational parks, botanical gardens, and river esplanades.
Additionally, the budget will be used for infrastructure supporting active mobility, such as physically separated bicycle lanes, bike racks, pedestrian footpaths and walkways, sports facilities, and recreational trails.
