Manila: The Philippine Statistics Authority in Ilocos Norte has been actively reaching out to communities, delivering its services, particularly the National ID (NID) program, to the public, including bedridden and other vulnerable groups.

According to Philippines News Agency, on Thursday, a team from PSA Ilocos Norte visited the rural villages of Sumader and Parangopong in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, to facilitate mobile national ID registration. This initiative allows residents to conveniently register and access NID services without needing to travel to the city proper, as emphasized by PSA Ilocos Norte officer-in-charge chief statistical specialist Renz Sanchez.

In addition to mobile registration, house-to-house registration is also being conducted for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and bedridden individuals. Sanchez highlighted that dedicated national ID registration personnel have been assigned to visit homes across communities, ensuring no one is left behind in the registration process.

This effort aligns with the objectives of the National ID System and the Marcos Jr. administration to provide all Filipino citizens and resident aliens with a single official identification document, aimed at simplifying public and private transactions and enhancing service delivery efficiency.

PSA officials stressed that the program is designed to ensure equitable access to the National ID System, acknowledging that some citizens face physical barriers that prevent them from participating in standard registration at fixed centers. Lilia de Lara, a resident of Barangay Pila in the city, expressed her satisfaction with the special national ID registration program for family members with mobility issues.

Based on the latest PSA data, over 538,000 people in Ilocos Norte have registered with the Philippine Identification System out of its more than 600,000 residents.
