NCRPO Enhances Patrol to Combat Criminals Posing as Delivery and Taxi Riders

Manila: National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin has initiated regular police patrols to curb criminal activities by individuals posing as motorcycle taxi and delivery riders in Metro Manila.

According to Philippines News Agency, Aberin announced that coordination has already been established with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and motorcycle taxi companies. This collaboration aims to differentiate legitimate riders from impostors, enhancing both public safety and brand integrity.

Aberin emphasized the urgency of this directive, noting that classes are set to begin on June 16. A targeted operation was conducted on June 6 at several bus terminals in Quezon City, known hotspots for motorcycle taxi riders. This action was in response to growing concerns about unauthorized individuals wearing ride-hailing uniforms to masquerade as legitimate riders while allegedly engaging in criminal activities like hold-ups, shootings, and kidnappings.

Further targeted operations are planned for the coming days. Aberin highlighted that this initiative represents a commitment to swift public service, collaboration with partner agencies, and accountability to safeguard the public from criminal elements exploiting trust and identity.
