Nearly 7,000 Agrarian Beneficiaries in Davao Relieved from PHP520-Million Debt.

Davao: Nearly 7,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the Davao Region have been relieved of their PHP520-million debt tied to their agricultural lands awarded under the agrarian reform program. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the distribution of 9,058 Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (CoCRoMs) to 6,951 ARBs from across the Davao Region, resulting in a total debt condonation of PHP527,694,544. According to Philippines News Agency, the condonation of all unpaid principal amortizations, interest, and surcharges of ARBs on agricultural lands awarded under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program is mandated under Republic Act 11953 or the New Agrarian Emancipation Act (NAEA), which Marcos signed into law in July last year. 'Ang programang ito ay naglalayong gawing ganap na tagapagmay-ari ng inyong mga sinasaka. Ibig sabihin, wala na po kayong iisipin na babayarang amortisasyon, interes, at iba pang mga surcharge (This program aims to make you the legal owner of your farms. That means, you won't have to worry about paying amortization, interest, and other surcharges),' Marcos said in his speech at Panabo City Multi-Purpose Cultural and Sports Center in Davao Del Norte. 'Sa madaling salita, lahat ng inyong utang burado na. Limpyo na tanan [Malinis na lahat] (All your debts are now erased. Everything is cleared),' he added. The ARBs who received their CoCRoMS were from Davao De Oro, Davao Del Norte, and Davao Oriental. According to the President, the government will complete within the year the condonation of debts of all the remaining ARBs in the other provinces of the region, such as Davao Del Sur, Davao Occidental, and Davao City. Marcos also distributed 672 electronic titles (E-titles) to 465 ARBs from the provinces of Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur covering 467 hectares, as well as 144 Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) to 142 ARBs from Davao City covering 250 hectares. Davao infrastructure projects have also been highlighted as the Chief Executive expressed optimis m that key infrastructure projects in the Davao Region will be completed before the end of his term in 2028. Among the projects are the Tagum City Bypass Road and Island Garden City of Samal Circumferential Road, both by 2026, and the Carmen-Tagum City Coastal Road. 'Tiyak na makakatulong ito sa pagpapabuti ng sitwasyon ng trapiko at pagpapabilis ng galaw ng inyong transportasyon at pagpapaunlad ng negosyo, turismo at agrikultura (It will certainly help in improving the traffic situation and speeding up mobility and development of business, tourism, and agriculture),' Marcos told the Panabo residents. "Patuloy po ang pagsisikap ng gobyerno na mabigyan kayo ng mga proyekto na makakatulong sa pagpapalago ng inyong mga sakahan at magpapatatag sa sektor ng agrikultura (The government is continuing its efforts to provide you with projects that will help grow your farms and stabilize the agricultural sector)," he added.
