Negrenses Gear Up for Cultural Extravaganza with Panaad sa Negros and Seven Other Festivals


Bacolod: Negrenses are set to showcase their local culture and heritage during the 29th Panaad sa Negros Festival alongside seven other major festivals in six local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental this March.



According to Philippines News Agency, March 2025 promises a vibrant celebration of cultural richness, with the Panaad sa Negros Festival as a major highlight. The Provincial Tourism Division announced that the Panaad, which means ‘vow’ or ‘promise’ in Hiligaynon, is scheduled from March 24 to 30 at the Panaad Park and Stadium. This event, known as the ‘festival of all festivals,’ will see participation from all 32 LGUs in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City. The festival will feature festive music, dance, artistry, beauty, and local delicacies, celebrating the province’s heritage.



Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, during the festival’s launch, urged Negrenses to take pride in showcasing the best of Negros Occidental, enriching the Panaad historical landscape, and creating lasting memories for both present and future generations.



In the northern part of the province, Sagay City will host the Sinigayan Festival from March 15 to 19, focusing on marine life and agricultural resources. Meanwhile, Victorias City will celebrate the Kadalag-an Festival from March 19 to 23, marking a thanksgiving in honor of Our Lady of Victory and the city’s 27th Charter Anniversary.



Moises Padilla, central Negros’ livestock capital, will hold the Magayon Hinuptanan Festival from March 22 to 25, highlighting the livestock raised by animal raisers. In the southern region, Ilog town, the seafood capital, will celebrate the Kisi-Kisi Festival from March 21 to 25, a nod to the movement of fishes during harvest.



Sipalay City, recognized as the ‘Kite Tourism Capital of the Philippines,’ will host the Burangoy Tourism Kite Festival from March 19 to 22, featuring kites made from biodegradable materials. The festival draws its name from ‘burador’ (kite) and ‘barongoy’ (flying fish). Sipalay will also celebrate the Barongoy Fishtival on March 2, expressing gratitude for the flying fish harvest.



Himamaylan City’s Himaya Festival will take place from March 31 to April 6, celebrating abundant harvest and the good life of its people.
