Netanyahu Announces Arrest of 18 Suspects Over Jerusalem Wildfires

Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that 18 individuals have been arrested on suspicion of arson in relation to the wildfires near Jerusalem.

According to Philippines News Agency, the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to address the fires that have been causing significant damage outside the city.

Speaking at the annual Bible Contest in Jerusalem, Netanyahu revealed that one of the suspects was apprehended while allegedly setting fires. Despite the arrests, the Fire and Rescue Services have not yet determined the exact cause of the widespread fires.

Netanyahu emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, "This is not a simple matter - there is damage to nature and people." He noted the importance of the ongoing investigation and the efforts to bring those responsible to justice.

The Prime Minister also expressed reassurance about the response to the wildfires, affirming that comprehensive measures are being taken to control and extinguish the blazes. "We are doing everything we can to extinguish the fires and rehabilitate what was destroyed," he added.
