New Laoag Mayor Bryan Alcid Prioritizes Swift Disaster Response on First Day

Laoag: New Laoag Mayor Bryan Alcid formally assumed the city's top post on Monday noon and immediately established speedy disaster response as one of his first orders of business.

According to Philippines News Agency, Alcid emphasized the need for a high-speed disaster response during his initial meeting with department heads at the City Hall. To achieve this, he announced plans to purchase additional quick response equipment and vehicles. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of comprehensive training for responders to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.

On his first day in office, Alcid signed Executive Order (EO) No. JBA 001-2025, which adopts the tagline "Alisto, Asenso, Progreso!" This slogan was central to his campaign during the May 12 elections and will guide all programs, projects, services, and activities of the city government under his administration.

Alcid articulated his vision for a government that is responsive, progressive, and committed to serving all Laoage±os. His administration will focus on "alisto" (quick response), "asenso" (growth and improvement), and "progreso" (inclusive development).

In addition to his focus on disaster response, Alcid appointed Atty. Ed Von Cid as the new city administrator. He also signed two memorandums: one regarding the implementation of the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act, and another focusing on the intensified cleaning and disinfecting of the Laoag City Public Market.

"This marks the beginning of a leadership that is reliable, action-oriented, and focused on serving effectively the people of Laoag City," Alcid stated, reflecting his commitment to the community.
