Manila: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday ordered the immediate arrest of former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and 17 other individuals involved in the controversial flood control projects, emphasizing that no one will receive special treatment. In a video message, Marcos stated that the Ombudsman has formally filed charges against Co and 17 officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Sunwest Corp. linked to the flood control scandal.

According to Philippines News Agency, the cases were filed based on evidence from the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the DPWH. Marcos stressed that the evidence is factual, not speculative, and that the list of those with arrest warrants is available for public viewing. Authorities are set to execute the arrest warrants without delay.

Marcos reiterated that the next steps will proceed without delay, as authorities are expected to enforce the arrest warrants. Those involved will be arrested, brought to court, and held accountable under the law, with no special treatment or exceptions. He vowed that the case, which he personally initiated, would be diligently pursued until its conclusion.

The President acknowledged the public's long wait but noted that their patience is now yielding results. The Office of the Ombudsman had previously sought the urgent raffle of the cases to expedite the processing of criminal charges against individuals linked to the anomalous flood control projects.
