Cagayan de oro: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 10 in Northern Mindanao has assured the public that it will maintain peace and order in the region by deploying 3,400 personnel to ensure the safety of protestors, particularly during the demonstrations planned for September 21.
According to Philippines News Agency, as early as Friday afternoon, groups such as the Promotion of Church People's Response - Northern Mindanao Region (PCPR-NMR) commenced their protests against corruption at significant landmarks within the city. PRO-10 Director Brig. Gen. Rolindo Suguilon emphasized the police's commitment to ensuring that these demonstrations are conducted safely and peacefully.
Brig. Gen. Suguilon stated, "The police personnel are always ready for these protest actions." He further highlighted that the officers would practice maximum tolerance, respect human rights, and adhere strictly to the Police Operational Procedures.
Additionally, the PCPR-NMR organized a 'Black Friday Protest' that began at Magsaysay Park in Plaza Divisoria and proceeded to Press Freedom Park near the Capitol Grounds. The protest concluded with a brief program and a candle lighting ceremony, emphasizing the peaceful nature of the demonstration.
