Quezon city: North Avenue, leading to Elliptical Road, will be closed to traffic from September 24 to 30 for the excavation works of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7). In an advisory released on Friday, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) stated that the major road will be closed 24 hours a day for the excavation of the pedestrian tunnel of the Quezon Memorial Circle Station.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DOTr appealed for public cooperation and understanding during this temporary inconvenience, emphasizing the goal of delivering a modern, efficient, and comfortable public transport system for all Filipino commuters. During the one-week closure, motorists heading southbound from North Avenue will need to exit through Agham Road instead of proceeding directly to Elliptical Road.
Motorists on North Avenue also have the option to take a U-turn before reaching the MRT-7 work area near Elliptical Road. The DOTr anticipates that MRT-7 will be partially operational by 2027, potentially benefiting around 600,000 passengers in its first year of operation.
