Manila: Oil firms have announced upcoming price adjustments beginning Tuesday, July 29, with certain storm-affected areas exempted from these changes. The price modifications include an increase in diesel and kerosene costs, though some regions will not experience these hikes due to recent severe weather conditions.
According to Philippines News Agency, Seaoil and Jetti released separate advisories detailing the price adjustments. Diesel products will see a price increase of PHP0.60 per liter starting at 6 a.m., although diesel prices will be decreased by PHP0.10 per liter in certain regions. Jetti explained that these adjustments are a response to fluctuations in the international market, including changes in the prices of refined fuel products, freight, and market premiums.
Seaoil announced an additional increase in kerosene prices, which will rise by PHP0.40 per liter. The company also stated that, in alignment with the Department of Energy's request, it would defer diesel price increases in typhoon-affected areas, specifically Regions 1 and 2.
Jetti further clarified that the price adjustments would not apply to several provinces and regions that have recently suffered from severe weather. These areas include Pangasinan, Pampanga, Bataan, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Oriental Mindoro, and Negros Occidental, as well as the National Capital Region.
Recent weeks have seen parts of Luzon and the Visayas battered by Severe Tropical Storm Crising (international name Wipha), Tropical Storm Dante (Francisco), and Typhoon Emong (Co-May). The impact of these storms has led to declarations of a state of calamity in numerous areas, including cities and municipalities across Pangasinan and other affected regions.
