Baguio city: Over 1,300 jeepney drivers in the Cordillera region have not claimed their cash relief assistance, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The agency reported that as of 5 p.m. on Thursday, 1,316 cash relief assistance packages remain unclaimed.
According to Philippines News Agency, 894 jeepney drivers in Baguio City have yet to collect their PHP5,000 cash aid, out of a total of 3,868 beneficiaries. In addition to this, 347 cash assistance packages are uncollected in Benguet, 44 in Mountain Province, 23 in Kalinga, six in Ifugao, and two in Abra.
Nerie Villanueva, the chief of the regional information office of the DSWD Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), stated that those in Baguio can claim their cash assistance at the DSWD office in SN Oriental Building along Leonard Wood Road on May 9. Benguet claimants are also advised to proceed to the DSWD provincial office on the same date.
Kalinga beneficiaries can collect their funds at the DSWD office in Tabuk City until May 11, while those in Mountain Province have until next week to claim their cash assistance at the DSWD office in Bontoc. The release of unclaimed cash assistance will continue until May 20, according to Villanueva. The agency is facing challenges such as needing to verify beneficiary lists, delays, and unclaimed assistance.
