Over 46,000 Children Enrolled in Government’s Anti-Poverty Program in Antique

Antique: Over 46,000 children from families participating in the government's flagship anti-poverty initiative are attending school in Antique for the 2025-2026 academic year. These students, ranging from daycare to senior high school, are set to receive educational cash grants for the months of June and July by September, according to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) provincial link Jeffrey Gabucay.

According to Philippines News Agency, Gabucay emphasized the importance of monitoring the attendance and compliance of these students with school requirements from the start of the school year. Regular class attendance is mandatory for these children to qualify for their cash grants. The monthly cash assistance includes PHP300 for daycare and elementary students, PHP500 for those in junior high school, and PHP700 for senior high school students.

Gabucay highlighted that parental support plays a crucial role in ensuring the children complete their education. Last year, the program saw 67 beneficiaries graduate from various universities, with nine achieving cum laude honors and 27 receiving academic awards. The graduates pursued diverse courses such as Bachelor of Science in Office Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

Since the cash grants are limited to senior high school, Gabucay noted that the 4Ps children receive priority for college education support through the Commission on Higher Education's Tulong Dunong program and other scholarships facilitated by the 4Ps referrals.
