P10M Assistance Distributed to Families Impacted by Tropical Storm Kiyapo

Manila: Some PH10 million worth of assorted assistance from the government as well as other stakeholders have been provided to families affected by the onslaught of Tropical Storm Kiyapo, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Monday said. Based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) situational report issued during the day, around 6,617 families in Region 1 (Ilocos Region), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 6 (Western Visayas) and Region 12 (Soccskargen) received various support.

According to Philippines News Agency, the aid consisted of family food packs, shelter repair kits, sleeping kits, kitchen kits, plastic mats and financial assistance. In a separate message, OCD information officer Diego Mariano said around 31 evacuation centers remain active as of this posting, and these are sheltering about 1,760 families or around 7,550 persons.

He said the weather disturbance affected around 63,606 families, or about 295,066 persons. He said three individuals died, two from Sarangani and one from Davao. "Cause of death (is) still for validation," he stressed.
