Clark: A shipment containing PHP11.6 million worth of shabu concealed in car parts was intercepted at the Port of Clark in Pampanga, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported on Monday. The contraband, weighing approximately 1,706 grams, was part of a shipment originating from South Africa that arrived on August 5, bound for Angeles City.

According to Philippines News Agency, the BOC's X-ray Inspection Project detected suspicious images within the declared car parts during routine clearance procedures. A subsequent K-9 sniff test yielded positive indications for illegal drugs, prompting the assigned examiner to conduct a physical examination. Authorities then discovered two engine pistons and one tensioner pulley kit concealing 17 black and transparent plastic packages.

An initial screening using a spectrometer indicated the presence of methamphetamine. Representative samples were subsequently turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for confirmatory examination. As a result, a warrant of seizure and detention was issued for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
