Daet: A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested, and 2.7 kilograms of suspected shabu worth PHP18.3 million were confiscated during a buy-bust in Barangay Lag-on, Daet, Camarines Norte, the Police Regional Office-Bicol Region (PRO-5) reported Friday.
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib identified the suspect as alias "May," 33, a resident of Barangay Cobangbang, Daet, and who was listed as an HVI in the illegal drug trade. During the operation on Thursday, an undercover police operative purchased suspected shabu from the suspect, before law enforcers arrested her.
A subsequent search led to the seizure of 2.7 kilograms of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PHP18.36 million, along with buy-bust money and other evidence. Calubaquib said the suspect and confiscated evidence were brought to the Daet Municipal Police Station for documentation before the filing of criminal charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).
Inventory, marking, and photographing of the seized items were conducted immediately after the operation in the presence of the suspect and required witnesses, in accordance with legal procedures. "We will continue to intensify our intelligence-driven operations, strengthen coordination with our partner agencies, and relentlessly pursue individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade. Together with the support of the public, we remain committed to building safer, more peaceful, and drug-resistant communities throughout the Bicol Region," PRO-5 chief Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda said in a news release.
