Pampanga: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) - Port of Clark announced the seizure of 2,100 grams of high-grade marijuana, commonly referred to as 'kush,' which was concealed inside garments and has an estimated street value of PHP3.15 million. The shipment, which arrived on October 21, was declared as camping sleeping bags, raising suspicion among authorities. According to Philippines News Agency, the acting District Collector, Jairus Reyes, stated that the shipment was flagged for inspection by the BOC's X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) after suspicious images were detected. Upon inspection, authorities discovered two JOOG bags, each containing a vacuum-sealed transparent pouch with dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be high-grade marijuana. The press release revealed that the smugglers attempted to hide the illegal substance by wrapping it in garments. However, the BOC's X-ray inspection and profiling expertise successfully thwarted the attempt. A K-9 unit further confirmed the presence of illegal substa nces within the shipment. Samples of the substance were collected and handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for chemical analysis. The analysis confirmed that the substance was indeed marijuana, which is classified as a dangerous drug under Republic Act 9165, as amended.
