Manila: The work performance of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s Cabinet has significantly improved in the third quarter of 2024, according to the results of the independent, non-commissioned survey by RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD). According to Philippines News Agency, the Boses ng Bayan performance assessment conducted by RPMD from Sept. 20-30 and released on Friday, indicated that all Cabinet members scored above the passing threshold of 52 percent, with the lowest approval rating recorded at 64.3 percent. Dr. Paul Martinez, global affairs analyst and executive director of RPMD, stated, "These results reflect positively on the administration's efforts to uphold effective governance and deliver on its promises," emphasizing the importance of ongoing progress in public service delivery. Resigned Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. achieved a remarkable 95.8 percent job performance score, leading the survey as he concluded his tenure to pursue a Senate seat. Other top-performing o fficials included Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian (93.5 percent), Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco (92.7 percent), Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman (89.4 percent), Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla (87.3 percent), and Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra (85.6 percent). Martinez praised these top five Cabinet officials for their "impressive scores and commitment to excellence," noting their exceptional dedication and leadership in public service. In a separate statement, Budget Secretary Pangandaman expressed her commitment to enhancing transparency, good governance, and budget efficiency. "Rankings aside, lalo nating pagbubutihin ang trabaho (we will continue improving our work). We will work even harder in pursuing fiscal reforms and strategic, open governance. Ito po ay para sa ating mga kababayan (This is for our countrymen)," she said. The RPMD survey also highlighted other top-performing officials, including Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy (83.4 percen t), Finance Secretary Ralph Recto (82.7 percent), Education Secretary Sonny Angara (81.2 percent), and Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa (80.5 percent). High approval scores were also noted for Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual (79.7 percent), Science and Technology Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. (78.9 percent), and others. The nationwide Boses ng Bayan survey used random sampling through interviews with 10,000 adult respondents, achieving a ±1 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level.
