P83.7-M Smuggled Cigarettes Seized in Bulacan Warehouse Raid

Bulacan: The Bureau of Customs-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (BOC-CIIS) seized an estimated PHP83.7 million worth of smuggled cigarettes from a warehouse in Bocaue, Bulacan on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, CIIS-Manila International Container Port (MICP) agents, supported by the Philippine Coast Guard-Task Force Aduana and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, raided the site and found 717 mastercases of assorted cigarette brands. Additionally, six trucks loaded with similar contraband were discovered during the operation.

BOC-CIIS Director Verne Enciso stated that the warehouse was sealed following the raid, and a full inventory is pending to determine the final valuation of the seized items. Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio praised the swift response and warned smugglers that the agency is steadfast in enforcing the law.
