Pampanga: A 42-year-old village captain from Lubao, Pampanga, was arrested in a hot-pursuit operation Friday, less than 12 hours after he allegedly shot a truck driver following a road altercation.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3) reported that the shooting incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. along JASA Road in Barangay San Antonio, Guagua. The victim, 28, sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators quickly went to work by reviewing closed-circuit television footage, conducting vehicle tracing, and coordinating with the Lubao Municipal Police Station and nearby police units. This comprehensive approach led to the suspect's arrest in Barangay Sta. Maria, Lubao, before noon.
Police successfully recovered the suspect's licensed firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. The weapon has been submitted for forensic examination, and criminal charges are being prepared against the suspect.
