Bayambang: The first amusement park in Pangasinan is scheduled to open on Nov. 29 in this town, boosting tourism, overall economic activity, and employment in the area.
According to Philippines News Agency, Jerwin Valeros, executive and operations assistant at Blue Sky Theme Park and Events Center, stated that 90 percent of the employees for the soft launch are from this town. He emphasized that their priority is the people of Bayambang, with the staff primarily consisting of town residents.
Valeros mentioned that they initially hired 60 staff for their soft opening, planning to increase the workforce as the grand opening approaches in the first quarter of 2026. The park will also feature 12 food stalls for small and medium entrepreneurs from the town.
The Blue Sky Theme Park and Events Center spans four hectares and is part of a larger 67-hectare investment hub in Barangay Bani. This development is anticipated to stimulate the local economy, including the town's finances. Mayor Mary Clare Judith Phyllis Jose Quiambao remarked that the project will foster investments and job opportunities, contributing to both the economy and local culture and commerce.
The PHP2.5-billion Bayambang (BYB) Metro is a mixed-use township development that includes a theme park, open spaces, hotels, residential areas, and commercial zones. Expected to be completed within five years, the project is projected to positively impact nearby towns in central and eastern Pangasinan. Quiambao noted that it would enhance tourism in the town and surrounding areas, with its location adjacent to the famous St. Vincent Ferrer Prayer Park attracting pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Cezar Quiambao, president of Agricultural Infrastructure and Leasing Corp. (AILC), indicated that the new metro area, including the amusement park, is projected to generate annual income of around PHP50 million to PHP200 million for the town when fully operational, primarily through real estate tax.
BYB Metro's Blue Sky theme park will feature a 50-meter-high Ferris wheel and a roller coaster as main attractions, along with 11 other rides, including three for children. Future additions will include a snow world and an ice-skating rink. For the Nov. 29 soft launch, the park hours will be from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on subsequent days, it will operate Fridays to Sundays from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The entrance fee is set at PHP100, with rides priced between PHP50 to PHP150.
