General santos city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has allocated PHP33.6 million to fund various barangay projects in General Santos City and Sarangani. The funding initiative falls under the Socio-Civic Project Fund (SCPF) program, which is administered by the Office of the President.

According to Philippines News Agency, the financial assistance was officially distributed by President Marcos himself during a ceremony at the Lagao Gymnasium in General Santos City on Labor Day. This funding aims to support local barangays in their communal projects and development activities. Of the total funds, PHP5.2 million was designated for the 26 barangays in General Santos City, while Sarangani's 142 barangays received PHP28.4 million.

Each barangay is set to receive PHP200,000, with a stipulation that half of the amount, PHP100,000, should be allocated to sponsor at least five scholars. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to supporting educational opportunities at the local level.

In addition to the funding, President Marcos also supervised the distribution of rice assistance through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) to beneficiaries in both General Santos City and Sarangani. Qualified recipients will receive a 10-kilogram sack of rice at least six times a year, as part of the government's ongoing support measures.

He stated, "These are the programs we are doing, and we do it because I know the situation in local governments." He further stressed that effective collaboration is essential to ensure that government services are felt by the people.
