Talisay city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday inspected ongoing rehabilitation works along the Mananga River in Talisay City, Cebu, under the government's Oplan Kontra Baha initiative, as authorities continue efforts to reduce flood risks in the province. Marcos engaged with residents living near the river during his visit to Barangay San Isidro and noted improvements in flood control structures and drainage systems following recent severe flooding.

According to Philippines News Agency, the President said modifications were made to slow down water flow and improve drainage capacity, allowing floodwaters to properly exit instead of accumulating for long periods during heavy rains. He also noted continuing relocation efforts for families previously living in designated 'no build zones' near the river, in coordination with local government units.

'Mayroon na tayong plano para maglagay ng dam sa taas. It's a 70-meter dam,' he said, adding that funding for the project is included in the proposed National Expenditure Program for 2027. Marcos said the government will continue flood control and river rehabilitation works, including long-term structural solutions, to prevent a repeat of recent flooding incidents that caused damage to communities and infrastructure in the area.
