PBBM: Joint Effort Will Pave Way for Progress, Stability

Manila: Collaborative efforts will lay a foundation for the Philippines' progress and stability, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Thursday, as he led the celebration of the 127th anniversary of the proclamation of the country's independence.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos highlighted the importance of collective efforts in forging a path of progress, stability, and prosperity for both present and future generations. In his message for the Independence Day commemoration, he urged Filipinos to honor their forefathers by striving for excellence in preserving rights and freedoms meant for the improvement and protection of the citizenry.

Marcos emphasized the need to protect the country from oppressors and encouraged Filipinos to embody the vigor of their ancestors in defending the nation against any threats to its strength. He urged citizens to honor their freedom by building a country worthy of the sacrifices made by their heroes, and to enhance their abilities and character for the betterment of the nation.

He described the celebration of Philippine independence as a proud milestone in the nation's history, marking the first unfurling of the Philippine flag in 1898 in Kawit, Cavite. Marcos acknowledged the long, arduous, and costly journey to freedom, which required the sacrifice of selfless individuals over more than a century.

Marcos noted that the heroism of the country's forebears has allowed current and future generations to enjoy rights and privileges in a nation they can call their own. The freedom fought for by these ancestors has inspired generations to devote themselves to advancing societal and humanitarian welfare, and has encouraged many to dedicate their efforts to their respective fields for the glory of the nation.

The nationwide commemoration led by Marcos includes a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal Park Monument in the City of Manila, followed by participation in the Independence Day Parade at the Quirino Grandstand. Later in the afternoon, Marcos will host the Vin d'honneur at Malaca±ang Palace in Manila, attended by top government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
