Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will convene a meeting on Wednesday afternoon to receive updates on government preparations for the Philippines' hosting of the 2026 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits.
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that key officials from the Social Secretary's Office (SOSEC) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will attend the meeting. Castro mentioned that SOSEC will discuss updates on preparations for the 40th ASEAN Summit shows to be held in May, while the CCP will provide updates on preparations for the 49th ASEAN Summit shows scheduled for November.
Other officials expected to attend the meeting include Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Presidential Communications Office acting Secretary Dave Gomez, Presidential Management Staff Secretary Elaine Masukat, and other senior government officials. Castro emphasized that the meeting is part of the Marcos administration's intensive preparations to ensure the country's successful hosting of the regional summit. She assured the public of the country's readiness for the ASEAN-related events, stating, "Sa ngayon, ASEAN-ready na ang Pilipinas (The Philippines is now ASEAN-ready)."
