PDIC Warns Public of Fake Official Receipts in Bank Transactions

Makati city: The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) has issued a warning to the public regarding the circulation of fake official receipts (ORs) for payments allegedly made for dealings with closed banks currently under liquidation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PDIC identified these counterfeit ORs as having the old PDIC logo, spelling errors, falsified signatures of PDIC personnel, and deviations from the standard format of authentic PDIC-issued ORs. The advisory emphasized the importance of conducting transactions only with authorized personnel at the PDIC office located at the PDIC Chino Building, 2228 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

The PDIC stressed the necessity for the public to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of all PDIC-related documents involved in their transactions. For concerns regarding suspicious documents, the public is encouraged to contact the PDIC's Public Assistance Department (PAD) by emailing [email protected] or calling the hotline at (02) 8841-4141 for Metro Manila residents. Those outside Metro Manila can use the toll-free hotline at 1-800-1-888-7342.

In addition, any suspicious documents can be reported to the PDIC's official social media channels at www.facebook.com/OfficialPDIC or www.x.com/OfficialPDIC. Walk-in clients are also welcome to visit the PDIC PAD at the PDIC Chino Building.

The PDIC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the interests of depositors not only through deposit insurance but also by ensuring transparency across all aspects of its operations.
