Manila: The Philippine Army (PA) on Thursday expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the Department of Budget Management (DBM) for the release of the 2023 Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for its qualified personnel. In a message, PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said the release of the PBB is a recognition of the services and hard work of all PA personnel across the country.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PBB is an annual merit-based incentive granted to government personnel, both civilian and uniformed, who have met performance targets and governance standards. "Ang paggawad ng PBB ay pagkilala sa dedikasyon, disiplina at propesyonalismo ng mga kasundaluhan na naglilingkod nang may karangalan, integridad at tunay na pagmamahal sa bansa (The release of the PBB shows the government's recognition of the dedication, discipline and professionalism of our soldiers who are serving with honor, integrity and true love of country)," Dema-ala told the Philippine News Agency.
Under the approved release, eligible PA personnel will receive a bonus equivalent to 45.50 percent of their basic monthly salary as of Dec. 31, 2023. To qualify, a PA soldier must have obtained a 'Very Satisfactory' rating under the Civil Service Commission's Strategic Performance and Management System.
The funds will be sourced from the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund under the FY 2025 General Appropriations Act. Col. Dema-ala emphasized that more than any award or recognition, all members of the PA are committed to carrying their oath as soldier-heroes in ensuring the peace and safety of every Filipino citizen.
