New york: The Philippine government is organizing two charter flights to bring home overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) impacted by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced during a recent visit to New York.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos revealed the government's commitment to assisting all Filipinos abroad who wish to return home amid the crisis. He highlighted that three commercial flights operated by Emirates have already facilitated the transportation of several Filipinos from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Manila.

As the situation shows signs of easing, the government is preparing two additional charter flights to repatriate more Filipinos seeking to leave the Gulf states. One of these flights is planned to depart from Riyadh, catering to Filipinos from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Another flight is set to depart from Fujairah in the UAE, aiming to transport OFWs from Dubai.

The departure of the charter flight from Fujairah is targeted for March 13, with an anticipated arrival in Manila late that night or early morning of March 14. Personnel from the Department of National Defense and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines will be deployed to assist with the repatriation efforts.

Additionally, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac is expected to travel to Dubai to assess the situation and oversee support for displaced OFWs. Filipinos arriving from Israel through land border crossings to neighboring countries such as Oman will also be accommodated on these charter flights.
