PH, Denmark Forge Partnership for Financial and Development Cooperation

Manila: The Philippine government and the Kingdom of Denmark have formalized their commitment to strengthen financial and developmental cooperation through a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MOU). The agreement, inked on June 29, aims to establish a robust framework to enhance bilateral collaboration and mobilize funding for the Philippines' key development initiatives.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Finance (DOF) announced that Finance Secretary Frederick Go and Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin were at the forefront of the ceremonial signing. The MOU is set to expand cooperation across crucial sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, climate action, maritime development, shipbuilding, transportation, and agriculture.

The partnership is designed to create avenues for concessional and blended financing, supporting high-impact projects that aim to bolster climate resilience, improve connectivity, and drive sustainable economic growth for the Filipino populace. "At the Department of Finance (DOF), we see this partnership as an investment in our future. Our goal is to translate this agreement into concrete projects, stronger investments, and meaningful results that benefit both the Philippines and Denmark," Go articulated during the signing.

Marking a significant milestone, this agreement coincides with the celebration of 80 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Denmark. Ambassador Mellbin emphasized the importance of creating an effective framework, stating, "When we get the framework right, we get the solutions right, and companies are more willing to invest in the Philippines to increase productivity and strengthen the economy's resilience."
