Rome: Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See Myla Grace Macahilig has praised the convening group behind the 'Sama sa Roma' event, which is part of the Jubilee Year celebration in Rome, Italy. 'It's a good day to celebrate our being a Filipino community here in Rome, and I hope this will encourage us to continue to find that Filipino spirit kahit saan man lugar tayo mapadpad sa mundong ito (wherever we go in this world),' Macahilig remarked during an interview at the Sama sa Roma program on Sunday. 'Congratulations sa convening group at sa mga nag participate sa umagang ito (Congratulations to the convening group and to those who participated this morning).'
According to Philippines News Agency, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, alongside Philippine Ambassador to Italy Neil Imperial, Migrant Workers Secretary Leo Cacdac, Senator Erwin Tulfo, and Rep. Bryan Revilla, also attended the event. Sama sa Roma brings together Filipinos from across the globe to reaffirm their faith, embrace their rich heritage, and celebrate the growing influence of the Global Filipino.
'While the pilgrimage to Rome is a profound experience, the essence of the Jubilee Year transcends physical presence. Every Filipino, wherever they may be, is called to be a Pilgrim of Hope -living out their Faith in their daily lives, strengthening communities, and being a beacon of love and service in their families, workplaces, and beyond,' Sama sa Roma organizers stated.
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle led a Jubilee Mass, which was followed by a vibrant Barrio Fiesta showcasing the Philippines' rich tapestry of arts, culture, heritage, and faith. P-Pop powerhouse SB19 also participated with an electrifying performance at Spazio Atlantico as part of their ongoing 'Simula at Wakas' world tour. On October 11, Filipinos joined the procession of images of Black Nazareno, Sto. Nino de Cebu, Our Lady of La Naval, Our Lady of Good Harvest, St. Lorenzo Ruiz, and St. Pedro Calungsod.
