Manila: The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has disbursed over PHP195.21 billion in benefit claims from January to August 2025. In a public advisory on Thursday, the state insurer highlighted that this amount signifies an 84.35-percent increase compared to the same period last year.

According to Philippines News Agency, PhilHealth data reveals that private healthcare institutions received the largest share of the disbursements, totaling PHP114.63 billion. Government health facilities accounted for PHP80.58 billion of the total amount. This marks a significant rise from 2024 figures when PHP58.94 billion was paid to private facilities and PHP46.95 billion to government hospitals, totaling PHP105.89 billion.

PhilHealth emphasized that the increased benefit payments are indicative of both the rising demand for health services and the corporation's dedication to ensuring timely reimbursements to healthcare providers. The state insurer further stated its ongoing commitment to its mission as a key partner in the nation's health sector, stressing that the rise in benefit disbursements is crucial for enhancing access to essential medical services for Filipinos. This initiative aligns with the Bagong Pilipinas vision of delivering healthcare services that are faster, fairer, and more reliable.
