Baguio city: The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is actively encouraging its members to take advantage of the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) for free consultations and annual medicine benefits up to PHP20,000, even if they are currently in good health.
According to Philippines News Agency, Magnolia del Rosario, the information officer for PhilHealth-Cordillera, highlighted the significance of the program in a media interview on Tuesday. Del Rosario urged members to use the services provided by YAKAP not only when they are unwell but also as a preventive measure to maintain their health.
The YAKAP program, an enhancement of the previous Konsulta package, offers free check-ups, essential diagnostics, and medicines across 75 categories. These include antibiotics, anti-hypertensives, and anti-diabetics, available through accredited centers and pharmacies. Members can receive prescriptions from accredited YAKAP center physicians and access their medications at no cost from any of the 304 accredited pharmacies nationwide, with 20 located in the Cordillera region.
Del Rosario further explained that YAKAP is designed as a wellness package that focuses on preventive care, aiming to reduce the need for future hospitalizations by promoting health maintenance without requiring hospitalization.
