Manila: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has announced the suspension of acceptance of all mail and parcels bound for the United States of America (USA) starting last Aug. 28, until further notice. This decision comes in response to the USA's recent policy changes affecting postal services.
According to Philippines News Agency, the suspension was prompted by the US's termination of its duty-free de minimis exemption, alongside the introduction of new customs requirements. These changes have led PHLPost to temporarily halt services to prevent inconvenience to customers.
In a public advisory issued on Sept. 2, PHLPost stated that customers who have already lodged items for shipment to the USA can request retrieval and a refund in line with existing guidelines, given they provide the necessary documentation.
The suspension affects all postal items directed to the USA that were accepted from Aug. 22, 2025, onwards. PHLPost has assured the public that updates will be provided once services are restored and has appealed for understanding and cooperation as they navigate these policy changes.
