Iloilo City: Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil led the launch of the technology-driven strategy of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO6) during his visit on Tuesday. PRO6 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky stated that the regional headquarters is setting a new strategic direction with innovative benchmarks for service delivery.
According to Philippines News Agency, Gen. Marbil graced the launching of 'PRO6 on TOP,' a significant milestone for PRO6 as it embraces technology-oriented policing. This initiative has been praised by the chief PNP for its modern approach to community service. The "PRO6 on TOP" program aims to enhance crime-prevention and solution efforts through the use of technology, as explained by PRO6 spokesperson Lt. Col. Arnel Solis.
Solis highlighted the plan to maximize the use of CCTVs, body-worn cameras, and drones to fulfill their mandate in crime prevention and resolution. In addition to launching the new strategy, Marbil ordered the maximum deployment of police personnel on the streets to ensure public safety.
Unit commanders are required to assess their areas to prevent crime, Solis added. During his visit, Marbil participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Heroes Wall, unveiled the newly relocated bust of local hero Gen. Martin Delgado, and inaugurated a condominium for police commissioned officers.
Furthermore, Marbil awarded police officers who served during the May 12 midterm elections, expressing his gratitude to the men and women of PRO6 for their support as he approaches retirement.
