Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Thursday the initiation of intensified, intelligence-led, and target-driven operations nationwide to enhance public safety, deter criminal activities, and ensure maximum police visibility in critical and high-density areas.
According to Philippines News Agency, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized that this heightened police posture is being implemented alongside the ongoing deployment of forces for the 2025 national and local elections, following the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. He highlighted the PNP's commitment to maintaining law and order while addressing multiple national priorities.
'These intensified operations are in direct support of the President's call for a safer and more disciplined society. We are maximizing our law enforcement capabilities, focusing on high-impact operations, and enhancing police visibility, especially in public areas where safety concerns are highest. Public safety is a shared responsibility - and the PNP is taking the lead,' Marbil stated.
In Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has increased its presence along EDSA and other major thoroughfares, including key intersections, busy crossings, transport terminals, and convergence zones. Day and night, patrol teams maintain a visible presence, ensuring security for commuters, motorists, and pedestrians.
Marbil noted that the strategic deployment of personnel not only deters crime but also aids in traffic enforcement and emergency response. In Central Luzon and Calabarzon, police regional offices have adjusted their anti-criminality strategies using updated crime mapping, time-based crime patterns, and predictive policing tools. Patrols have been reinforced in urban centers, provincial capitals, commercial districts, and transport hubs to suppress criminal elements and respond swiftly to emerging threats.
The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) has intensified operations along national highways, major roads, and crucial ingress and egress points. This includes strict enforcement of the 'No Plate, No Travel' policy and joint operations with the Land Transportation Office targeting unregistered and illegally operated vehicles. Spot inspections are being conducted under Section 48 of Republic Act 4136, with increased scrutiny on establishments related to vehicle operations to ensure compliance with safety and legal standards.
Nationally, all police regional offices have been instructed to reassess and optimize patrol deployments using crime mapping, crime clocks, and hotspot data. Tactical Motorcycle Riding Units have been mobilized to intensify anti-criminality efforts targeting loose firearms, illegal drugs, private armed groups, organized criminal gangs, and wanted persons, ensuring no room for lawbreakers to operate.
As the nation progresses under the vision of Bagong Pilipinas, the PNP reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Filipino communities safe, orderly, and secure.
